As part of the UST System, Angelicum College sent a delegation to the opening ceremonies at the University of Santo Tomas for the Academic year 2017-2018. The delegates were headed by Rev. Fr. Ferdinand L. Bautista, O.P., Ph.D, UST-AC’s Chief Operating Officer, and Rev. Fr. Dennis Maquiraya, O.P., the Director for Finance.

A con-celebrated Misa de Apertura was held at the Santisimo Rosario Parish Church on August 1, 2017 at 9 o’clock in the morning. Most Reverend Roberto C. Mallari, DD of San Jose, Nueva Ecija, who is also Chairman of the Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, was the lead celebrant of the Holy Mass. In his homily, he underscored the role of education in promoting a balanced playing field between the rich and the poor and the learned and the unlearned. He also emphasized that schools are the Church’s arms in fostering social transformation.

After the Mass, Dr. Pilar Romero, the UST Senior High School Principal, delivered the Discurso de Apertura, which focused on the innovative leadership approach management strategies for the Senior High School Program of the university.

A simple lunch was served afterwards.
