AABL champions crowned at ACAA Christmas Party

To celebrate the Christmas season and award the champions of the Angelicum Alumni Basketball League (AABL), the Angelicum College Alumni Association (ACAA) held “It’s An Angelican Christmas,” the AABL championship/ACAA Christmas Party on December 17, 2011.

After almost five months of intense hardcourt action, Ninety-Four emerged victorious for Bracket A, while Garetz (from Batch 1996) won for Bracket B. Both teams took home the coveted title plus P15,000 cash per team.

Bong Ramos from D’ Vintage (1979) was awarded the MVP for Bracket A, while Christian Nagano from Tigers (2002) was given the MVP title for Bracket B. The Mythical Five for Bracket A included Bong Ramos (1979), Ferdinand Reyes (1984), Carlos Suntay (1990), Gari Alvarez (1990), and Emmanuelle Mesia (1994). Meanwhile, for Bracket B the Mythical Five composed of Mike Pe Benito (1996), Marc Silva (1996), Philip Sarceno (1998), Arvin Evangelista (2001), and Christian Nagano (2002).

The festivities, however, did not end with the championship. An All-Star Game and Three-Point Shootout was also held at the AC Gym. Two teams were formed with basketball greats Bong Ramos of team D’ Vintage (1979) and Kevin Ramas of team Astroboys (1984) as team captains. The White team, led by Bong Ramos, took home the victory.

Meanwhile the Three-Point Shootout winners were Edsel del Rosario (1996) for the first place, Michael Dan Opulencia (1997) for the second place, and Charles Patrick Eusebio (2008) for the third place.

The event was hosted by ACAA Managing Director Maria Angelica Grace Cabantac and was sponsored by Axe, Planet Sports, Pacsports, SPEED Magazine, and Total Fitness Magazine.
