ILOILO CITY, Philippines – After securing spots in the Top 5 of their respective categories, two student-writers from Angelicum School Iloilo are set to represent the Schools Division of (SDO) Iloilo City the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) this June 2023 at Punta Villa Resort, Arevalo, Iloilo City. Alexa Jaci Bataan from YS7 (Grade 6) was declared champion in features writing (English) for the elementary level, while Marjel Concept Jade Pedroso, a Grade 11 learner, clinched the third spot in copy reading and headlining (English) during the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) held on May 20, 2023 at SPED-Integrated School for Exceptional Children, Mabini Street, Iloilo City Seven winners were recognized in each writing category, but only the Top 5 is entitled to represent SDO Iloilo City in the RSPC on June 17 to 18, 2023 for the elementary level and June 24 to 25, 2023 for the high school level. Bataan and Pedroso will compete against delegates of the 21 divisions coming from the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental. With the theme, “From Campus Journalism to Real-World Journalism: Shaping Minds from Schools to Societies,” the above-mentioned gathering of campus journalists and school paper advisers aims to foster the significance of journalism in promoting social consciousness and environmental awareness. It encourages the fair and ethical utilization of media as fundamental principles of responsible journalism and offers students the chance to apply the skills acquired in campus journalism to their future professional paths. /END
